Meet the Principal

Dr. Ginny Hiltz has served as the Principal of Meadowbrook School since the 2025-26 school year. She previously worked for nine years as the Principal of Greenbriar School in District 28. Before joining District 28 in 2016, Dr. Hiltz served as an Assistant Principal and Special Education Coordinator in Arlington Heights District 25. She also worked as an administrator at a charter school in Chicago Public Schools. She began her career in education as a Teacher and Library Media Specialist in Winnetka District 36.

"I feel incredibly lucky to be a community member and parent in District 28 and to have the opportunity, in my principal role, to give back to my community! I’m very excited about the community’s investment in our schools with the April 2025 referendum and look forward to building the new Meadowbrook School!" - Dr. Ginny Hiltz

Dr. Hiltz earned her bachelor's degree in English from the University of Michigan. She also holds a master's degree in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University, and a PhD in Educational Technology from Michigan State University. In addition, she holds a certification in Educational Leadership from National-Louis University, and a Superintendent's Endorsement from Western Illinois University.

In her free time, Dr. Hiltz enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. Together, they are on a mission to visit all 63 U.S. national parks! Her favorite so far is Gates of the Arctic, which they explored by tiny airplane—one of the only ways to access the park since there are no roads. A former school librarian, Dr. Hiltz has many favorite children's books, including "The Tale of Despereaux" by Kate DiCamillo and "My Lucky Day" by Keiko Kasza.
